[press] August 22 this year is the Centennial birthday of Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of China's reform and opening up. Therefore, this paper intends to make a brief analysis of the economic and social development of Lianyungang City in the past 25 years of reform and opening up from the perspective of statistics, using the methods of quantitative analysis and comparative analysis, for commemoration, and only for the research reference of relevant leaders and departments

since the reform, especially since Lianyungang was listed as one of the first batch of coastal cities to further open to the outside world in 1984, the economic and social development of Lianyungang has significantly accelerated, and all economic fields have generally achieved a record leap. Especially as the bridgehead at the eastern end of the new Eurasian Continental bridge, Lianyungang has attracted increasing attention at home and abroad. From the vertical comparison of the main statistical indicators, the 25 years of reform and opening up, especially the 20 years of opening up, have indeed been the period when Lianyungang has the most vigorous economic development, the fastest growth in strength, the greatest social changes and the people have benefited the most, opening a new chapter in the economic and social development of Lianyungang

1. In terms of economic scale, the city's GDP, that is, the GDP, rose from 1.149 billion yuan in 1979 to more than 35.1 billion yuan in 2003. The accumulated newly increased economic aggregate is equivalent to rebuilding nearly 30 Lianyungang cities on the original basis

according to statistics, by 2003, Lianyungang's GDP had reached 35.113 billion yuan, a net increase of 33.964 billion yuan and 32.751 billion yuan compared with 1979 and 1984 respectively, equivalent to 30.6 times of 1979 and 14.9 times of 1984. Among them, the urban GDP increased from 417million yuan in 1979 to 15.544 billion yuan in 2003, which was 37.3 times that of 1979 and 19.7 times that of 1984. In other words, in the economic field, in the 25 years since the reform and opening up, Lianyungang City has been built on the original basis every less than one year

2. From the perspective of comprehensive strength, the city's national property has exceeded 150billion yuan, and the local financial resources have been significantly enhanced, laying a solid material foundation for Lianyungang to further accelerate its development

since the reform and opening up, Lianyungang has paid attention to increasing investment in order to accelerate the pace of economic construction in Lianyungang. From 1980 to 2003, the city's total investment in fixed assets reached 123.161 billion yuan, equivalent to 150.6 times of the cumulative investment in the 30 years from the founding of the people's Republic of China to 1979; In the 10 years from 1994 to 2003, the accumulated investment was 109.327 billion yuan, accounting for 88.8% of the investment since the reform and opening up. Since 1999, the annual investment in fixed assets in Lianyungang has been more than 10billion yuan. In 2003, it exceeded 20billion yuan, reaching 21.239 billion yuan, equivalent to 1.2 times the cumulative investment in the past 45 years from 1949 to 1994

with the gradual increase of investment, Lianyungang's national economic infrastructure is becoming more and more perfect, and its comprehensive economic strength is significantly enhanced. According to preliminary statistics, by 2003, the city's national property had exceeded 150billion yuan, including nearly 120billion yuan of fixed property, which was 31 times that of 1979 and 25.7 times that of 1984; In 2003, the city's total revenue reached 3.413 billion yuan, equivalent to 19.1 times that of 1979, 16.2 times that of 1984, and 1.1 times that of 1952-1987; In terms of per capita regional GDP, in 2003, the city's per capita GDP reached 7536 yuan, equivalent to 21.5 times that of 1979 and 11.2 times that of 1984

since the reform and opening up, affected by the national economic construction climate, although Lianyungang's economic development has some volatility, on the whole, it still shows an obvious steady development momentum, and the development speed of main economic indicators has reached or exceeded the expected goal. From 1979 to 2003, the average annual GDP growth of Lianyungang City reached 10.5%, of which the average growth from 1992 to 2003 was 12.4%; In terms of per capita GDP, the average annual growth rate from 1979 to 2003 was 8.9%, an average increase of 4.3 times, of which the average annual growth rate from 1992 to 2003 was 11.2%; From the perspective of gross industrial output value, the average annual growth rate from 1979 to 2003 was 16.5%, of which the average growth rate from 1984 to 2003 was 17.3%, and the average growth rate from 1992 to 2003 was 18.6%; From the perspective of fiscal revenue, over the past 25 years of reform, the city's fiscal revenue has grown by an average of 13.1% annually, of which the average growth from 1984 to 2003 was 15.8% and the average growth from 1992 to 2003 was 20.2%
